Hurray!!!… It’s a New Year! Let that sink in for a moment. Okay… Everyday of our lives is filled with the need for essentials. These essentials are necessary for our quick response to the exigencies of the year. We are constantly on a stretch, if not on a strain, to restrategise and devise new methods to make our lives better and meet more of our needs as the new year unfolds.
This trend has a tendency to make one loose sight of one’s greatest need which is the need to rely (TRUST) solely on the ability of the One who makes a year new (God).
Your needs are quite necessary for survival. Beyond physical necessities (such as food, clothing and shelter), they include your need for spiritual growth, purpose achievement, educational excellence, marital settlement and what have you; and regardless of what they are, the fruition of these needs is greatly hinged on the depth of your trust on He who knows tomorrow, who meets needs and make things beautiful in His time.
Understanding the plans of God gives us a clear cut direction on the steps we need to take for the days ahead. Also, very importantly, is that we understand the place of ‘NEEDS‘ and ‘TRUST‘. These two words will be helpful for us this year.
It is good that we start and journey through this year with an understanding of how our trust in God can deal with the needs in our lives. It’s quite simple!
NEEDS are basic requirements for survival (according to Economists). This implies that NEEDS, when not met, can lead to frustration, dryness (lack of relevance), or death. ‘WANTS‘, on the other hand is the desire to do something: mere wish. But Needs is what is necessary for your survival. It is our responsibility to meet these needs.
TRUST is a thing too fragile and yet significant, all thriving relationships are built on it’s foundation. TRUST; a firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability or strength of someone or something. We place our faith on who or what we trust.
Psalms 56:3-4, “When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God, whose word I praise, In God I trust; I shall not be afraid what can flesh do to me.”
To achieve the satisfaction of our needs being met, as Christians, is made possible by our level of Trust in God.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding, in all ways acknowledge him and he will direct your path” (Prov. 3:5.)
We all have a way/path, these are routes we’ve planned to tread onto a desired end. Accomplishing a plan needs a path and following the right path consistently demands that we place trust on someone who has the map and knows the end by just seeing the beginning. At this point, your good sense of understanding and discretion is limited and untrustworthy but to trust in the LORD your GOD is key.
We live in a dispensation that heralds uncertainties and poor survival provision which has a great way of disrupting our plans. But trusting on the One who holds tomorrow can help you work efficiently with much rest and confidence.

WHAT TO DO…
- Write down your plans: Starting with your needs, have a positive need and write them down. Eric M. Watterson said, “As we examine the youth of today, we must realize that the negative behavior we see on the outside, is a result of a deeper need on the inside”. Definition of ‘Need’ and ‘Want’ changes from person to person, hence, bread, clothes and a house is not the only ‘Need’. Have yourself a positive need. If I am to suggest to you, make your spirituality and self-growth your basic need. Also prioritize your needs and strategies and see God coming through for you
- Acknowledge God: In all your ways acknowledge Him. Acknowledging God is a great sign of trust. It simply means “Lord here I am with my plans but I still subject them to you for direction, for help, and for fine-tuning“. The moment you acknowledge God, He blesses your memory to enhance your plans, directs you through the way, and help you through the process. Be intentional in your decision. If you’re ready to acknowledge God then it is not a one day thing, all through the year process you have to intentionally involve him, and that calls for a relationship with him.
- Develop a personal commitment in your relationship with God: this is necessary to having our needs met.
(1John 4:18 There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear) The love in the relationship with God gives us the courage we need and enable us deal with the fear of the unknown. Trust is integral to a happy and fulfilling relationship. Building trust is essential for our relationship with God to be beneficial to us.
Hear this, The holy ghost doesn’t flow through methods but through men. He does not come on machine but on men. He does not anoint plans, but men . God needs all the afore mentioned to work in you but the most He need from you is YOU
Consistently and persistently show that you trust the One your hope is on and no second option.

In that spirit, your consistency to the process of time/hard work will yield you increase beyond your imagination.
God has great plans for us. He says in Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope”.
Trust might be a bit difficult, however, but we have to be consistent with God’s word, that’s our source of Faith (Romans 10:17). Also become a prayer addict; it’s a reassuring ground which diffuses all doubts away (Philippians 4:6-7). And when things don’t work out how you have planned and expected; do not fret, go over all these again.
You are bound for the top and God is committed to bringing you to the top.
Keep Trusting…
I Love you all and God bless you.
