Was Jesus Christ Really God? 1 John 1:1–18
Some people claim to be Christians but refuse to acknowledge Christ’s divinity. They believe He was merely an excellent teacher, healer, philosopher, or social reformer. To be clear, you can believe all of these wonderful things about Jesus and even praise Him as a prophet sent by almighty God. However, if you do not believe that Jesus Christ is God’s Son and that He died for your sins, you do not know Him.
True, Jesus was fully human, but He was also fully divine, which is a wonderful, supernatural mystery. And believing this is absolutely necessary for comprehending how we are saved.
You may have heard people falsely claim that Jesus never claimed to be God. Nonetheless, Jesus repeatedly places Himself on an equal footing with the Father in the Gospels (John 10:30; John 14:6-14). Indeed, if Jesus was not truly God’s Son, he was either a lunatic or the world’s most despicable liar, as C. S. Lewis observed. Don’t waste another day thinking Jesus is anything less than the Son of God. Your eternal salvation is at stake.
