Psalm 42:6-11. Topic: The Answer for Discouragement
Life’s circumstances can sometimes cause us to lose hope. It’s natural to feel discouraged now and then because we live in a fallen world. The more crucial question is how we respond. Even when our expectations aren’t met, we can find joy and peace as believers.
Begin by looking upward and telling the Lord that you are in despair, as the example in today’s reading suggests. Ask Him to assist you in focusing on Him rather than your circumstances. Recognize that it’s not just a situational issue; it’s also a spiritual one.
Get into the Word of God to see what God wants to do in your life despite the disappointment and pain. Consider how He used adversity in the lives of biblical figures such as Joseph and David. Then think about His previous faithfulness to you.
You might be in pain for a while, but you don’t have to be exhausted to the point of giving up. As a Christian, you have the assurance that your heavenly Father is all-powerful, all-knowing, and all-loving. Remember how He has worked in the past when you’ve been discouraged, and you can be confident that this will be another faithfulness story to add to your collection.
